PJ Masks: Hero Academy

PJ Masks: Hero Academy was released in 2019 for iOS and Android, and has had major updates in 2020 and 2021.

The initial release included 3 packs focusing on coding principles for children. Using a timeline, you drag and drop tiles to complete a sequence to get your character to move across the level and navigate various obstacles.

In 2020, we included the addition of loops, which further enhanced the fundamental learning objectives.

We then included an entirely new game style in 2021. We added in a racing engine where you first complete a race track, and then get to race around it using one of the main vehicles from the show.

I was the lead developer on the project and all subsequent updates, as well as the lead level designer throughout.

The game utilises asset bundles for remote asset delivery to keep the initial download size down.

The initial planning and structure of the core engine allowed for easy future expansion, as well as simple creation of new level packs which can be delivered and updated remotely without providing a new binary.
